Omaha Provider Affirms Vaccine Schedule Safety Amid Federal Review

(OMAHA, NE) -- An Omaha health care provider says the traditional childhood vaccine schedule is safe and effective, despite a federal panel reviewing the recommendations.

The review comes after Health and Human Services Secretary Robert Kennedy Jr., fired the previous advisory committee and appointed new members, some of whom are considered vaccine skeptics.

Shaylee Laursen, a nurse practitioner at One World Community Health in Omaha, says she tells families the CDC recommendations are medically sound and proven by research.

She says there is concern in the medical community about falling immunization rates, especially with recent measles cases reported in both Nebraska and Iowa.
