Midwest Abortion Rates Mixed On 3rd Anniversary of Roe V Wade Repeal

(Undated) -- Abortions are up in Illinois and Nebraska, and down in Iowa at the three-year anniversary of the Supreme Court overturning Roe v Wade.

In Iowa, the organization says they've provided 80% fewer abortions since the state's Fetal Heartbeat law banned most procedures after six weeks.

Planned Parenthood says hundreds of Iowa women are traveling to Nebraska for an abortion where the ban starts at 12 weeks. The organization reports a 68% increase in the number of abortions in Nebraska.

Planned Parenthood in Illinois has seen a 47% increase in women seeking an abortion, mostly from states with strict abortion rules.

The Senate Democratic Caucus is sponsoring a bill to remove state-level restrictions like waiting periods, require exceptions for the life and health of the mother and protect the ability to travel for an abortion.
