State Trooper Hospitalized After Omaha Crash — Third Crash in Two Weeks

(Omaha, NE) -- A Nebraska State Patrol trooper is hospitalized and her cruiser is totaled after being hit by a large box truck while responding to an accident scene in Omaha.

According to the Nebraska State Patrol (NSP), the trooper was inside her cruiser with emergency flashers on and pulled off to the side of I-80 at 50th Street on Monday night when the collision occurred.

She is injured but is expected to survive. The box truck driver is also injured. Both the trooper and the truck driver were taken to Bergen Mercy Hospital with serious injuries, both are expected to survive.

This is the third similar crash involving NSP troopers in the past two weeks.
