Governor Vetoes Psilocybin Drug Bill, Citing Need for Caution

(DES MOINES, IA) -- Governor Kim Reynolds has vetoed a bill that would have allowed prescription use of synthetic psilocybin in Iowa after federal approval.

Reynolds said the state needs a more deliberate approach and cited concerns about moving ahead of public health and regulatory systems. The bill had passed unanimously in both chambers.

The Governor said she wants to see action from federal agencies before Iowa changes its law.
