Southeast Nebraska Pursuit And Search End With Arrest

The Nebraska State Patrol says troopers, with help from Lincoln Police and the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office, arrested a minor after a pursuit and search west of Lincoln early Friday.

Investigators say around 2:35 a.m., a trooper saw a Toyota Rav4 speeding with no license plates on West O Street in Lincoln.

The trooper attempted a traffic stop, but the driver accelerated the vehicle and fled westbound, with the trooper in pursuit.

After approximately five minutes, near NW 98th Street, the driver lost control of the vehicle, which crashed into a ditch.

The driver then fled on foot northbound into a wooded area.

Lincoln Police Officers and Lancaster County Sheriff's Deputies responded to assist in the search.

After approximately three hours, a trooper located the suspect and took him into custody without incident.

NSP says the driver, an 18-year-old male from Grand Island, was booked into the Lancaster County Jail for flight to avoid arrest, willful reckless driving, obstructing a peace officer, no operator’s license, leaving the scene of a crash, and numerous traffic violations.
