(OMAHA, NE) -- The Omaha Police Department is seeking to add a new mental health crisis co-responder to its team, expanding efforts to support people experiencing mental health issues.
The department currently assigns co-responders to work alongside officers in each of the city’s five precincts and local schools. The new position would bring the number of co-responders to seven, funded by a grant from the Omaha Police Foundation through 2027.
The City Council will vote on the addition at its next meeting.
