(LINCOLN, NE) -- Nebraska lawmakers have approved a new School Financing Review Commission to study how the state funds public K–12 education.
The 18-member group will examine the formula used to distribute aid to school districts and suggest long-term improvements. Supporters say it could help shape future property tax relief. The measure passed unanimously in the Legislature and requires an initial report by December 1.
Ongoing recommendations would follow each year. Lawmakers say the commission’s goal is to ensure funding is equitable and sustainable.
