(Omaha, NE) — The canvassing is complete, and the results of the Omaha City Election are now certified and official.

“We make sure that the number of voters who signed into the polling place equals the number of ballots we ran through the machine for each polling place or each precinct, and we do that for both in-person voting and early voting,” said Douglas County Election Commissioner Brian Kruse.

Kruse reported that the official turnout was 32.16%, with 94,791 people voting. He noted that these numbers are consistent with turnout from four years ago.

The final ballots in the Omaha General Election were counted a few weeks ago. Mayor-elect John Ewing Jr. received 53,322 votes, while incumbent Jean Stothert garnered 40,423 votes.

Mayor-elect John Ewing Jr. will officially take office on June 9.
