Google announces investment in Iowa, including expansion in Council Bluffs

Google is planning to invest $7 billion in Iowa with the announcement on Friday of a new data center in Cedar Rapids, and plans expand its cloud and artificial intelligence infrastructure in Council Bluffs.

Google has been in Iowa since 2007, investing $6.8 billion in the state since launching the data center in Council Bluffs.

The company invested a $1 billion in the 1,000 acre data center in 2024.
