(Douglas County, NE) -- A former Omaha police officer who was fired after an officer-involved shooting has been hired by the Douglas County Sheriff's Office.
Spencer Head with the Sheriff's Department confirmed that Adam Vail has been hired as a civilian screening officer, not as a sworn deputy.
Vail was terminated from the Omaha Police Department last year after being found in violation of department policies and procedures in the shooting death of Cameron Ford during the execution of a no-knock warrant.
Despite the policy violations, the Douglas County Attorney ruled that Vail’s use of deadly force was legal.
