Campfire Ban Lifted at Nebraska State Parks Ahead of Holiday Weekend

(LINCOLN, NE) -- The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission has lifted its temporary ban on campfires at state parks and wildlife areas in central and western Nebraska.

The change follows recent rains and aligns with Gov. Jim Pillen’s decision to let the broader statewide burn ban expire on May 20. Campfires were already permitted in eastern Nebraska parks, but visitors are still urged to follow basic fire safety guidelines and check with individual parks for local restrictions.

The announcement comes ahead of Memorial Day weekend, when park traffic is expected to increase.
