Two people, including a retired Omaha Police officer, are in custody and facing charges of child abuse and sexual assault of a child.

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office says Thursday night, Deputies, Omaha Police, and the US Marshals Service served an arrest warrant at a residence near 149th and Bauman Avenue in unincorporated Douglas County.

During service of the warrant, the Sheriff's Office says 40-year- old Kenneth Beams refused to come outside and surrender.

A law enforcement K9 was used to make the arrest inside the residence.

Investigators say during the warrant service, law enforcement became aware of accusations of possible child abuse.

Four juveniles were said to have been victimized.

Ultimately, the homeowner, later identified as 58-year- old Christy Stevens, a retired Omaha Police Sergeant, was arrested for four counts of felony child abuse and one count of felony assault by strangulation.

In addition to the felony warrants, Beams was also charged with first degree sexual assault of a child and four counts of felony child abuse.
