FInal Omaha Election Votes Counted

The final ballots in the Omaha General Election were counted Friday, and Mayor-elect John Ewing Junior ended up with 53,322 votes.

Incumbent Jean Stothert had 40,423.

There will still be a canvass or audit before the election is made official May 29th.

Douglas County Election Commissioner Brian Kruse tells KFAB Radio News they will make sure the numbers in the books voters signed at polling places match the number of ballots cast.

They will also do random hand counts of a few precincts to make sure the automation worked properly.

The final unofficial number can be found at the Douglas County Election Commission website: votedouglascounty-ne.gov
