The Nebraska Department of Correctional Services reports an inmate has died at the Tecumseh State Correctional Institution.

Corrections say 80-year-old Lloyd Schoonmaker served almost 45 years of a 10-year-to-life sentence out of Cass County for second degree murder.

The cause of death has not been officially determined, though he was being treated for a medical condition.

Under Nebraska law, a grand jury will conduct an investigation as is the case whenever someone dies in law enforcement custody.
