A vacant home in North Omaha is a total loss after an early morning fire.

Crews responded to a home less than two miles west of Carter Lake at about 2 a.m. to find smoke and flames.

The fire was extinguished in about 20 minutes.

Investigators say they found evidence of squatters living inside.

No injuries are reported and an investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.
