Survivors of the April 26, 2024, Arbor Day tornadoes in Douglas, Washington, and Sarpy Counties can now call 2-1-1 to request support through the new "Neighbor Recovery Fund."
The "Tri-County Long Term Recovery Group" created the fund to streamline disaster assistance and help individuals and families address critical unmet needs.
Thanks to donors and the collaboration of several local partners, the "Neighbor Recovery Fund" provides financial assistance for essential recovery expenses, including rent and utility support, transportation, mental health services, and debris removal.
Survivors will be connected to the United Way of the Midlands’ 2-1-1 helpline.
After a brief eligibility screening, referrals are submitted for review and coordination with local disaster case managers.
All payments are made directly to service providers, ensuring quick, responsible support.
