Nebraska Ranks Fourth, Iowa First For Spending The Least On Housing

Nebraska and Iowa residents spend less on housing than most of the nation.

A new report by WalletHub compares all 50 states based on the share of median household income spent on a mortgage and utilities.

Iowans spend just more than 18% of their income on housing costs, the lowest in the nation.

Nebraska homeowners spend just more than 20% of their income. That's the fourth lowest in the US.

Hawaiians spend the most, with more than 53% of the median income going toward housing costs.
