(Omaha, NE) -- A police officer who shot at a murder suspect in Omaha has been identified.

50-year-old Billy Dorrall is accused of shooting and killing 45-year-old Eric Bechtolt at Florence Tower in northern Omaha. Officer Alex Atkinson fired his service weapon at Dorrall and hit him in the hip. Dorrall returned fire on officers and threatened other residents at gunpoint. Dorrall was eventually taken into custody and charged with several offenses, including first-degree murder. Bechtolt is believed to have died by the time officers arrived.

Officer Atkinson completed a voluntary interview, and it was concluded by law enforcement that his account is consistent with video footage and the physical evidence recovered at the scene.
