The Omaha Police Department's Crash Investigation Squad says alcohol use and lack of seatbelt use are being investigated as contributing factors in a fatal northwest Omaha crash.

Police say it happened at 84th and Blondo Streets early Tuesday.

Around 630 a. m., officers responded to a report of a Chevy Silverado flipped over in the Little Papillion Creek.

Investigators say the driver of the truck, a 47-year-old man, was declared dead at the scene.

The passenger, a 35-year-old woman, was pulled from the truck and taken to a hospital in critical condition.

Police say her injuries are not believed to be life- threatening.

Investigators say the initial investigation shows the truck was westbound on Blondo Street around 12:30 Tuesday morning when the driver lost control, went off the roadway south of Blondo, across the Keystone Trail and then into the creek.

The truck was reported by a person using the trail hours after the crash occurred.
