The Nebraska State Patrol announces that a State Trooper was killed in the line of duty today.
The Patrol says a traffic crash occurred while the trooper and others were responding to another crash on Interstate 80 between Ashland and Greenwood.
The name of the law officer is not being released at this time.
NSP has asked the Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office to conduct the crash investigation.
I-80 remains closed between mile markers 420 and 426 at this time.
