A convicted criminal in Omaha who overstayed his visa is arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office says Natanael Topete-Perez was found guilty of construction site theft for stealing tools.

Deputies say he asked if he could pick up the tools the Sheriff's Office couldn’t prove he had stolen.

Sheriff Aaron Hanson says when Topete-Perez went to get the tools, he was met by ICE agents who took him into custody for deportation processing.

The Sheriff told KFAB Radio News, "We know that Topete-Perez was a repeat offender, he was constantly victimizing small construction businesses, putting them at risk of going out of business, disrupting their employees' livelihood."
