A section of a major thoroughfare in south central Omaha closes Monday as part of a bridge replacement over the Union Pacific Railroad mainline tracks.
72nd Street will be closed between I-80 and "F" Street.
Omaha City Engineer Austin Rowser says the project in that heavy industrial and warehouse area with heavy truck traffic is part of city and state efforts to enhance the 72nd Street corridor south toward Ralston and Sarpy County.
Possible detours include 60th and 84th Streets.
The full closure is expected to last six months.
