Ernst Spearheads Cost-Cutting Effort with Incoming Trump Administration

(Des Moines, IA) -- Iowa may soon be at the center of a plan to save the federal government nearly a trillion dollars.

Empty buildings, IRS Agents who owe back taxes, COVID fraud, and studies on how fast shrimp can run, are all part of a list compiled by Iowa U.S. Senator Joni Ernst detailing waste in Washington and how to change it. The plan is being sent to Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy, both soon to co-chair the new Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

Ernst said last week that she's putting together a U.S. Senate version of the DOGE office. She also brought the suggestions directly to President-elect Trump in a meeting at Mar-a-Lago over the weekend.
