(Lincoln, NE) -- This week's US Drought Monitor published by the University of Nebraska-Lincoln shows all of the state as either abnormally dry or in some level of drought. Eighty-two percent of Nebraska is in moderate drought. Nearly 48% is in severe drought, and less than 1% is in extreme drought.

Red Flag Warnings remain in effect due to dry, windy conditions and an extreme fire danger.

From the National Weather Service-Valley, NE

The combination of strong gusty winds up to 45 mph, and relative humidities dipping as low as 18% will bring widespread extreme fire weather conditions this afternoon and evening. Fires will be exceptionally easy to start, and any fires that start will grow and spread quickly.

Nearly all of Iowa is either abnormally dry or in some level of drought.
