Nebraska Lawmakers Return To Capitol Building

Nebraska lawmakers are returning to Lincoln for a special legislative session.

Governor Jim Pillen issued the official proclamation Wednesday that calls for the session that begins Thursday.

The Governor is asking lawmakers to approve a program that cuts state property taxes by 50 percent.

There's opposition to the Governor's plan.

For example, a letter from what's called "The United Cities of Sarpy County," which includes the municipalities of Bellevue, Gretna, La Vista, Papillion, and Springfield, along with Hastings, Holdrege, Kearney, and Minden.

The letter states they want property tax relief but the governor's plan is not the right one.

Some of their complaints include the plan's lack of clarity and not explaining how the lost revenue will be replaced.
