Longtime Nebraska Inmate Dies

The Nebraska Department of Correctional Services reports an inmate in custody for a long ago Metro Omaha murder has died.

Corrections says 74-year old Brian Adams was being held at the Omaha Correctional Center.

His sentence began on October 29th, 1968.

Adams was serving a life sentence for first degree murder out of Douglas County in the death of a gas station attendant.

Corrections says, while the cause of death has not yet been determined, Adams was being treated for a medical condition.

Under state law, there will be a grand jury investigation, which happens when someone dies while in custody, or being taken into custody.
