Nebraska Inmate Death Investigated

The Nebraska Department of Correctional Services investigates an inmate death.

They say 74-year old Phillip Privett died at the Tecumseh State Correctional Institution.

Corrections says Privett’s sentence began in 2015: 40 to 60 years for second degree murder and use of a firearm to commit a felony in a case out of Knox County.

Corrections says, while the cause of death has yet to be determined, Privett was being treated for a medical condition.

Under Nebraska law, there will also be a grand jury investigation, which happens whenever someone dies in law enforcement custody, or while being taken into custody.
