(Omaha, NE) -- A homicide investigation is underway after a body is found near Lake Cunningham on Monday.
The Douglas County Sheriff's Office says around 3:45 Monday afternoon, deputies were called to the area of 66th and Rainwood Road regarding a down party. Investigators say once on the scene, deputies found a deceased person lying about 15 feet from the roadway. DCSO says a witness found the body as he was walking his dog in the area. The sheriff's office says the person's identity is not known at this time, but an autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday.
Deputies are investigating this case as a homicide. Further details will be released after the conclusion of the autopsy.
DCSO says this is the second homicide investigation within 7 months, that bodies were located near Rainwood Road. Investigators say at this time, there is no evidence to suggest the two cases are related.
