Governor Pillen Seeks Applicants for Nebraska Public Power District Board

(Lincoln, NE) -- Nebraska's Governor is looking to fill an open seat on the Nebraska Public Power District Board of Directors.

Following the resignation of Subdivision 5 Director Charlie Kennedy, Governor Jim Pillen's office says he is now accepting applications to fill the vacancy. Director Kennedy, of Scottsbluff, submitted a letter of resignation, which was accepted on a unanimous vote by NPPD’s board during Thursday’s regularly scheduled meeting. Director Kennedy took office in January 2019. The appointed board member will serve through December 2024, which coincides with the end of Kennedy’s 6-year term.

Prospective applicants can apply through the Governor's Boards and Commissions portal or in writing to the Office of the Governor. Applicants for the position must live within Subdivision 5 and reside in an area served directly or indirectly by NPPD. The Subdivision 5 chartered territory represents certain areas within 21 counties in the western half of the state.

Pillen's office says he intends to fill the position quickly and that the deadline to apply is Monday, March 20, 2023.
