Troopers Locate Guns, Drugs After Foot Pursuit in Pawnee County

(Pawnee County, NE) -- An Illinois man is arrested in Nebraska after leading troopers on foot pursuit and being found with drugs.

The Nebraska State Patrol says just after 10:30 Monday morning, a trooper attempted to pull over a speeding Dodge Magnum on Highway 8, near Pawnee City. The NSP says as the trooper attempted to pull the vehicle over, the driver refused to stop, pulled into a rural driveway, then jumped from the vehicle as it was still moving. Investigators say the driver then fled on foot, with the trooper in pursuit.

The state patrol says after a short foot pursuit around a farm property, the trooper was able to arrest the driver. Investigators say during a search of the vehicle, four firearms, including a short barrel rifle, more than 200 rounds of ammunition, 32 grams of cocaine, 144 grams of psilocybin mushrooms and 214 grams of marijuana were found.

The driver, 40 year old Jesse Starry, Chillicothe, Illinois, was arrested for possession of controlled substances, possession with intent to deliver, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, possession of a short barrel rifle, carrying a concealed firearm and other charges.
