Student brings gun to western Iowa school

(Shenandoah, IA) -- A gun is brought to a western Iowa elementary school.

The superintendent of Shenandoah Schools, Dr. Kerri Nelson, says on Monday a student brought an unloaded gun to the Shenandoah Elementary School. Nelson says the gun was reported to a staff member, and immediate action was taken. In an email sent to families, Nelson says the gun was taken, the student was removed and law enforcement was notified.

Nelson says there is no further threat to anyone at the school.
