Woman, infant rescued after man barricaded them in motel room

(Omaha, NE) -- Omaha Police arrest a man after he barricaded himself, a woman and infant inside a motel room.

OPD says around 2:00 Wednesday morning, officer attempted to pull over 30 year old Dadreon Mason near 108th and L, but Mason refused and fled the scene. Investigator say officers then learned that the vehicle Mason was driving was stolen, and that Mason had multiple felony warrants out of Lancaster County, Nebraska and Council Bluffs, Iowa.

Police say around 4:00 Wednesday morning, officers spotted the the vehicle in the parking lot of the Motel 6 at 109th and J Street. Investigators say witnesses reported seeing an assault and then a woman and infant enter the hotel room with Mason. OPD says at that time, it was believed that Mason was holding the victims in the motel room against their will.

OPD SWAT and negotiators were then called to the scene, with officers eventually breaching a window to rescue the victims. Police say officers then determined Mason was barricaded in the bathroom of the hotel room, and after deploying chemical munitions, Mason surrendered. OPD says charges are pending against Mason.
