(Omaha, NE) -- One person is injured and another is arrested after a suspect reportedly fled a traffic stop and crashed on Interstate 80 in Omaha.
The Nebraska State Patrol says around 8:15 Thursday morning, a trooper observed a Toyota Sienna on southbound Interstate 680 going an estimated 90 miles per hour. Investigators say as the vehicle merged onto eastbound I-80, the trooper attempted a traffic stop. The state patrol says the vehicle accelerated and fled. The NSP says after about 30 seconds, the vehicle lost control and crashed into the barrier that separates eastbound and westbound lanes. Investigators say the Toyota then hit another vehicle, a Chevrolet Impala, causing minor damage.
The driver of the Toyota, 32 year old Nicholas Brady was extricated from the vehicle and was taken to Bergan Mercy Hospital with what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Impala, 27 year old Tylon Holmes was not injured. Holmes had an active warrant. He was arrested and lodged in Douglas County Jail.
Charges are pending for Brady. The Omaha Police Department is investigating the crash.
