(Omaha, NE) -- Strong storms with high winds, large hail and tornadoes are possible Tuesday night, and Omaha Public Power District crews are preparing ahead of the expected storm.
OPPD says additional troubleshooters, line crews and tree crews are on hand into the evening and overnight, if needed, to respond to power outage reports. The power district says crews are going through safety briefings and ensuring trucks are serviced, gassed up and ready to go. OPPD says they also have extra customer service employees who will work through the evening and overnight, as needed.
OPPD reminds customers that in the event of outages:
- Report power outages at OPPD.com via the OPPDConnect app or by calling 1-800-554-OPPD (6773).
- Help restoration efforts by resisting the urge to approach our working crews, so they can maintain complete focus on the dangerous work at-hand. This will enable them to work more safely and restore power to you more quickly.
- Keep your pets away from crews while they are doing their work. Leash them to take them outside, if needed – and preferably go out a door that is not near this work. OPPD says this will help them work safely and more efficiently in order to bring your power back.
