Nebraska Republicans to name nominee to replace Jeff Fortenberry Saturday

(Lincoln, NE) -- Nebraska Republicans plan to name their candidate to replace former Nebraska Congressman Jeff Fortenberry this weekend.

The Nebraska Republican Party says its executive committee will meet on Saturday to pick the nominee it wants to run in the District 1 special election. An announcement will be made naming their selection Saturday afternoon following the meeting. Nebraska Democrats chose State Senator Patty Pansing Brooks as their candidate for the June 28th special election.

Fortenberry resigned after being convicted of lying to the FBI about illegal campaign contributions.
