Plattsmouth Sunday school teacher accused of sexual assault dies in custody

(Cass County, NE) -- A Sunday school teacher accused of sexual assault dies in custody.

The state of Nebraska has submitted a motion in Cass County District Court for the dismissal of child sexual assault charges against William Marks Sr. after he died while incarcerated on March 27.

On March 17th, the 65-year-old Sunday school teacher was charged with two counts of first-degree sexual assault of a child and one count of third-degree sexual assault of a child. Investigators say the alleged crimes happened between January 2009 and December 2012.

WOWT 6 News reports that the Cass County Attorney’s Office told them on Wednesday that the investigation into Marks’ death is ongoing. There has been no information released about the circumstances of his death. A grand jury will be called to also investigate since he died while in custody.
