Omaha man identified as suspect in Kearney murder

(Kearney, NE) -- An Omaha man is identified by law enforcement as the suspect in a Kearney murder.

Kearney Police say 24 year old Romeo Chambers is the suspect in the shooting death of Jared Shinpaugh, of Lexington. Investigators say Chambers is also accused of injuring two people during a January 16th attempted robbery.

KPD has obtained a felony arrest warrant for Chambers on charges of second degree murder, three counts of use of a weapon to commit a felony, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, first-degree assault and one count of second degree assault. All are felony charges.

Investigators say the night of January 16th, police were called to the scene of a shooting. Once on the scene, officers found Shinpaugh dead. Two other victims, 29 year old Joseph Garcia and 18 year old Joshua Morris, suffered non-life threatening injuries in the shooting.

Four other arrests have been made in relation to this case. The case remains under investigation.
