Fifteen people killed on Nebraska roads in February

(Undated) -- Fifteen people were killed on Nebraska roads in the month of February.

The Nebraska Department of Transportation says the 15 fatalities occurred in 13 crashes. NDOT says six of the fourteen people killed in vehicles were not using seat belts, four were using seat belts, and four had seat belt usage marked as unknown. One of the fatalities was a pedestrian. The Department of Transportation says only 11 of the 35 vehicle occupants killed so far this year were using seat belts.

Eleven of the fatalities were in rural locations. Two of the deaths were on the interstate, nine on other highways, and four on local roads.
