(Lincoln, NE) -- The Nebraska Legislature advances a bill that would allow Nebraskans to carry concealed weapons without a permit.
On Friday, senators voted down a opposition filibuster and voted to move LB-773, proposed by State Senator Tom Brewer, into the second of three rounds of consideration in the Unicameral. Current law in Nebraska requires you to pass a background check, pay a fee and take a gun safety class in order to obtain a concealed-carry permit.
If passed, the bill wouldn't change where concealed weapons can be prohibited and it still wouldn't allow people to possess a concealed weapon while drinking or using drugs.
