Two teens arrested following Sarpy County pursuit in stolen SUV

(Sarpy County, NE) -- Two teens are arrested following a pursuit in a stolen vehicle with the Nebraska State Patrol in Sarpy County.

The Nebraska State Patrol says around 7:00 Tuesday morning, a trooper spotted a Chevrolet Suburban failing to maintain its lane on eastbound I-80, near the Platte River. Investigators say the trooper attempted to pull the vehicle over, but the driver accelerated and fled. The trooper then initiated a pursuit.

The NSP says the vehicle continued eastbound, reaching speeds of 95 miles per hour before it exited onto Highway 370 eastbound. Investigators say the vehicle eventually went northbound on Highway 50 and then turned into an industrial area. The state patrol says a trooper was then able to successfully perform a tactical vehicle intervention to bring the Suburban to a stop.

The two occupants, both teens, were taken into custody. NSP dispatchers confirmed that the vehicle had been reported stolen out of Gothenburg. The driver, a 15-year-old boy, was taken to the Douglas County Youth Center for flight to avoid arrest, willful reckless driving, theft by receiving stolen property, open alcohol container, minor in possession, and traffic violations. The passenger, a 14-year-old boy, was taken to the Sarpy County Juvenile Justice Center for open alcohol container and minor in possession.

The NSP says the pursuit lasted approximately nine minutes.
