National Weather Service ups amount of snow forecast for eastern Nebraska

(Omaha, NE) -- The National Weather Service increase the amount of snow eastern Nebraska could see from this weekend's storm.

The Weather service is forecasting the following amounts in Nebraska Friday night into Saturday:

  • Dodge, Washington and Butler counties
    • Total snow accumulations of 3 to 5 inches. Wind chills as low as 15 below zero.
  • Saunders, Douglas, Sarpy, Seward, Lancaster ,Cass, Otoe ,Saline, Jefferson, Gage, Johnson, Nemaha, Pawnee and Richardson counties
    • Total snow accumulations of 4 to 7 inches. Wind chills as low as 25 below zero.
  • Thurston, Boone, Madison, Stanton, Cuming, Burt, Platte and Colfax counties
    • Total snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches. Wind chills as low as 20 below zero.
  • Knox, Cedar, Antelope, Pierce and Wayne counties
    • Very cold wind chills expected. Wind chills as low as 30 below zero.

The Weather Service forecasts the following amounts in Nebraska Friday night into Saturday:

  • Pottawattamie, Mills, Montgomery, Fremont and Page counties
    • Total snow accumulations of 4 to 7 inches. Wind chills as low as 20 below zero.
  • Monona, Harrison and Shelby counties
    • Total snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches. Wind chills as low as 20 below zero.
