(Bellevue, NE) -- A former Omaha Public Schools employee is behind bars in Sarpy County, accused of sexually assaulting a student.
The Bellevue Police Department says on December 14th, staff of Pawnee Elementary School contacted Bellevue Police to report an alleged sexual assault of a child. Investigators say staff reported receiving information from students that one of the school’s security guards may have had sexual contact with a student on school property.
Through further investigation, BPD says detectives learned that the victim and suspect, 23 year old Carlos Ramirez of Omaha, entered a portable classroom the afternoon of December 10th. Detectives believe the suspect sexually assaulted the victim inside the portable classroom.
On Tuesday, Ramirez was transported to the Sarpy County Jail and booked for First Degree Sexual Assault of a Child and Third Degree Sexual Assault of a Child. Bellevue Police are withholding the age and sex of the child in order to protect the identity of the victim. No further information is available at this time.
