Five arrested in early Monday morning pursuit

(Omaha, NE) -- Five people are arrested following an overnight multi-jurisdictional vehicle pursuit.

The Omaha Police Department says just after midnight Monday morning, officers reported hearing gunfire in the area of 65th Street and Hartman. Investigators say an officer who was in the area, driving an unmarked police vehicle, observed a vehicle driving erratically near Immanuel Hospital. Police say the officer attempted to follow when someone in the suspicious vehicle shot at the officer. A pursuit of the suspect vehicle was declared by responding Omaha Police patrol officers.

OPD says the driver of the suspect vehicle led officers into Iowa and back into Nebraska, with the pursuit ending at Nebraska Medicine, where all five occupants were taken into custody. OPD’s Air Support Unit and multiple area law enforcement agencies assisted with this incident. No officers were injured. One juvenile occupant was treated for a minor injury and medically released.

Those arrested are identified as:

18 year old Charnel Douglas – Booked into Douglas County Corrections for Felony Flight to Avoid Arrest, Possession of a Stolen Firearm, and Accessory to a Felony.

18 year old Kentre Gunn – Booked into Douglas County Corrections for Possession of a Stolen Firearm and Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person.

17-year-old male juvenile – Booked into Douglas County Youth Center for Attempted Felony Assault, Use of a Weapon to Commit a Felony, Unlawful Possession of a Handgun, Discharging a Firearm in City Limits (from a vehicle), and Possession of a Stolen Firearm.

17-year-old male juvenile – Booked into Douglas County Youth Center for Possession of a Stolen Firearm, Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person, and Unlawful Possession of a Handgun.

15-year-old male juvenile – Booked into Douglas County Youth Center for Possession of a Stolen Firearm, and Unlawful Possession of a Handgun.
