(Norfolk, NE) -- A death investigation is underway in Norfolk after a worker falls from a scissor-lift at a manufacturing plant.
The Madison County Sheriff’s Office says around 5:45 Saturday evening, deputies and Norfolk Fire and Rescue were called to the Continental plant for a workplace accident. The sheriff's office says the call was a report that a 50 year old man had fallen from a lift and hit his head. Investigators say the victim, Keith Polenske, was taken to Faith Regional ER with severe injuries. Polenske later died from his injuries.
The sheriff's department says from witness accounts, Polenske had been working on a scissor-lift, when an automated crane struck the lift, tipping the lift over, sending Polenske to ground. The death investigation is being handled by the Madison County Sheriff’s Office and Madison County Attorney Joe Smith.
