(Omaha, NE) -- An Omaha man is sentenced to more than four years in prison for being a felon in possession of 16 firearms.

35-year-old Robert Thielen was sentenced on Wednesday to 51 months in prison, to be followed by three years of supervised release.

The guns were found on Dec. 8, 2020 when the Omaha Metro Task Force executed a search warrant at Thielen’s home in Omaha. They report finding six handguns, one home defense shotgun, three hunting style rifles, and six assault style rifles which were seized. The firearms were examined by agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms who determined the weapons had been transported into the state.

Court documents show Thielen was previously convicted of felony theft on Feb 5, 2010, in Douglas County and consequently was prohibited from possessing firearms.
