Nine cases of the mosquito-borne West Nile virus have been reported in Douglas County this year, and the Health Department reminds residents to take the usual precautiions as they confirm the county's first West Nile virus death of 2021.
The Health Department says the case involved a man in his '80's, who was hospitalized after developing West Nile symptoms in August.
The patient died earlier this month.
They say he had underlying health conditions;
