Omaha Metro Volunteer Fire Department Opens New Fire Barn

The Irvington Volunteer Fire Department officially opens and dedicates its second station.

That department has been serving the northwest part of the Omaha Metro area since it was chartered in 1952.

Hundreds of people turned out for an open house celebration and pancake feed on Sunday.

“For me, it’s continuing on what our charter members did in 1952, there were 24 members that started the volunteer fired department, and basically built what it is up to this point,” Chief Nolan Paulsen told 6 News.

“We’re just trying to continue on what they did for their community, that they saw the needs that were needed for fire and EMS.”
