The "Three Rivers" Public Health Department reported the first confirmed death of this West Nile Virus season on Monday.
It's not known in which county in their jurisdiction of Washington, Dodge, and Saunders the victim lived.
Experts say most people exposed to the virus do not get sick, but about 20 percent develop symptoms.
