Missing Nebraska prison inmate arrested in Indiana

(Evansville, IN) -- A Nebraska prison inmate reported missing is arrested in Evansville, Indiana.

The Nebraska Department of Correctional Services says Michael Simmons disappeared from the Community Corrections Center – Lincoln on May 1st. The NDCS says someone called 911 and provided information leading police to the Simmons. He was taken into custody on Friday, August 27th and is being held at the Vanderburgh County jail in Indiana.

NDCS says Simmons started his sentence on February 24, 2020. He was sentenced to five years on charges of operating a motor vehicle during revocation in Saunders County and third-degree domestic assault (second offense) in Douglas County.
