A loss in the Omaha medical community is especially hitting hard at "Nebraska Medicine;"
The hospital says 72-year old Doctor James Edney died when the plane he was piloting crashed Saturday evening in Victoria, Minnesota. Doctor Edney was Professor Emeritus at the UNMC Department of Surgery.
Victoria is on the west side of the Twin Cities area;
According to reports, two members of the doctor's family, 42-year old Jacob Mertes and 37-year-old Sara Mertes, also died.
The Natonal Transportation Safety Board is investigating.
